    About Our School

    About Us

Brentwood Union School District is proud to announce that we offer a Virtual Academy to students in grades TK-8 effective the 2021-2022 school year.  Our program creates and implements a positive and safe environment that promotes lifelong learners to act responsibly, value learning, encourage integrity, and encourage students to be active participants in their education.  Families can choose either the Homeschool pathway or the Independent Study pathway. Both programs use the same online comprehensive curriculum as their core instruction. Calvert Learning is used for Elementary students and Courseware is used for Middle School students.  Families who choose to follow the homeschool path may supplement the core curriculum to add to their student's learning. Students in grades TK-3 must see their teacher daily for their synchronous time (a 30-minute daily Zoom session with their teacher). Students in grades 4-8 must-see their teacher once a week for their synchronous time, and have a daily live interaction/check-in. Daily attendance is a mandatory component of our Independent Study program. Under this Independent Study model, parents are an essential component of their child's success and are truly their learning coaches.
