July 2022

Dear Harvest Grove Families-

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!  I am excited for a year full of an engaging and rigorous curriculum, in-person experiences for students, social and emotional learning, and a close school-home partnership with you all. Your children have excellent, strong, dedicated, top-notch teachers who they will check-in daily with. This is my 20th year of being an educator with 10 years of Kindergarten through 8th-grade teaching experience and 10 years of administrator experience.  I wholeheartedly believe that all students can and need to learn and I am honored to support your children and yourself this year at Harvest Grove Virtual Academy.

I recognize how different and learning in a home setting can be, especially with parents playing an important role as their child’s learning guide. We are committed to building a strong collaboration and partnership with you, to really support you in this journey. You can expect weekly principal letters, a weekly counseling and wellness letter for tips and strategies as you and your child navigate through doing school in a non-traditional school setting, continuous communication from our teachers, and continual support from our whole staff. Our goal is to make sure you and your child never get to a point of frustration because one of us is always available to help support you.

Our Harvest Grove Virtual Academy Handbook is located HERE. This is meant as a one-stop-shop handbook with links to everything you should need. You will find items such as academic, attendance, and online behavior expectations for students, as well as, school procedures and daily schedules, and a variety of parent resources.  Every year we review and update our procedures and policies and we ask that you take some time to go over them as well.  Please read this handbook and discuss the information with your student(s).

One critical component to having a strong school community is for our families to be directly involved.  Please consider volunteering your time to work with our students. This year, I would also like to organize a parent group to help with our school activities and meet with me monthly to collaborate on ways to continue to make HGVA the best it can be. If you are interested in being part of our parent group or helping out at HGVA, please complete THIS FORM.

We hope that you had a wonderful summer vacation and that all of our Hedgehogs are ready to thrive at Harvest Grove this year! Please feel free to come by, call or email (bhague@brentwood.k12.ca.us and lbellone@brentwood.k12.ca.us) us with any questions, comments, or concerns.  We will be more than happy to help!

Respectfully,

Brie Hague, Principal, Harvest Grove Virtual Academy

Lauren Bellone, Secretary, Harvest Grove Virtual Academy
